Brand “Dolnet”:

Dolnet is a French saxophone model that is becoming increasingly popular. There is a good reason for this: the horns are solidly made, sound quite jazzy and have a pretty good tone.

Dolnet was founded in 1880 and began producing saxophones around 1888.

The Dolnet company had two partners, Messieurs Pigis and Lefevre. Their workshop was in Mantes, the historic "heart" of French woodwind workshops and, fascinatingly, the home of Selmer, Buffet Crampon, SML, etc. In technical terms and in terms of general handling and feel, there are many similarities with Selmers, although there are sometimes small design flaws - such as occasional looseness of solder joints and rods, both of which are very easy to fix - but it's not worth getting worked up about if you want a potentially excellent instrument like a Dolnet.

It seems that the production of the Dolnets is more consistent with Buffet, SML and Couesnon production than with Selmer: not only is the key design of the early Dolnets similar to those of the early SML (and becomes similar to Buffet after about 1940), some of the Jean Cartier stencils have the beautiful glitter varnish most famously found on the Buffet Super Dynaction. The overall look is definitely influenced by (or was influenced by) the Couesnon horns. All of this makes me agree with David Hughes (an emailer): the Dolnets were produced at least until the mid-1980s, not the 1960s as many websites state (see also Saxophone Service, which advocates an end date of 1984).
